Klosterkirche des Kmd.

The Kunstmuseum Magdeburg Kloster Unser Lieben Frauen has been awarded the special prize ‘Straße der Romanik’ 2025 by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Tourism, Agriculture and Forestry of Saxony-Anhalt, which is endowed with €10,000 as an earmarked grant.
‘The Kunstmuseum Magdeburg Kloster Unser Lieben Frauen receives the award for its many years of dedicated work to preserve and culturally utilise this unique Romanesque building in the heart of the state capital, in particular for the renovation of the monastery church and the extension of the north gallery,’ reads the explanatory statement.

The unique situation of an art museum in a Romanesque building complex is both unusual and exciting. Presenting the collection and the special exhibitions on contemporary art in the Romanesque architecture means confronting, confronting and relating the present and the past, making it possible to compare and recognise correspondences and breaks.
