"alltag deutschland IIV" by Hans-Hendrik Grimmling on permanent loan to the Kunstmuseum Magdeburg

The painting ‘alltag deutschland IIV’ by Hans-Hendrik Grimmling has been acquired by the Stiftung Kunst und Kultur der Stadtsparkasse Magdeburg and given to the Kunstmuseum Magdeburg on permanent loan.

The six-part painting is part of Hans-Hendrik Grimmling's series of works from the 2000s. Black bands cover the six canvases, including a vibrant yellow colour that pops out. Large surfaces and powerful forms characterise the works from the 2000s. The depicted knots not only symbolise a firm connection, but also stand for the insolubility of conflicts and inner struggles. The work is currently on display in the special exhibition ‘Hans-Hendrik Grimmling. Painting 1978 to 2024’.

The Stiftung Kunst und Kultur der Stadtsparkasse Magdeburg was established in 1997. Since then, it has been endowed with capital totalling around 2.7 million euros. The foundation's income is distributed annually to art and cultural projects. By establishing the foundation, we are able to continuously promote cultural life in our business area.

The foundation supports cultural life by awarding scholarships, supporting exhibitions and workshops and promoting cultural events and institutions, among other things. Works of art and collections are also purchased through the foundation in order to make them accessible to the general public.
